- During the first 24 hours, you may notice sensitivity to hot and cold temperatures.
 - Wait until the numbness from the anesthesia has completely worn off before consuming hot foods or drinks.
 - Refrain from intense physical activities and avoid very hot or spicy foods for the initial 24 hours.
 - A small amount of bleeding is normal after a deep cleaning, but if you experience heavy bleeding, please contact our office.
 - You may use ibuprofen or acetaminophen as needed, following the dosage instructions on the package or those given by your doctor.
 - Rinsing with warm salt water—about one teaspoon of salt in an eight-ounce glass of water—three times daily can provide relief.
 - Brush and floss gently after a deep cleaning, returning to your regular routine once any discomfort has subsided. Follow any additional instructions given by our office during your visit.
 - Be sure to take all prescribed medications as directed.
 - Avoid smoking for at least 72 hours.
